Privacy Policy
Who We Are
Watch Locker is a licensed seller of authentic luxury timepieces in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, licensed by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism under licence no. 1626296. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use watchlocker.ae or transact with us.
Watch Locker is the controller of the personal data described here. We can be reached at info@watchlocker.ae or on +971 50 188 4964 for anything in this policy.
We handle personal data in accordance with United Arab Emirates law, including Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data and its implementing regulations.
What This Website Collects
Very little. The website has no accounts, no login, no shopping basket and no customer database. Browsing it does not require you to provide any personal information, and the website itself stores nothing on your device: no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no data saved in your browser.
The enquiry forms on the contact page do not send or store anything on this website. They compose a WhatsApp message on your own device; nothing you type reaches us until you choose to send it in WhatsApp.
Like any website, ours is reached through a hosting network, and that network keeps short-lived technical logs. See Hosting and Security below.
Reservation Deposits and Payments
If you reserve a watch through this website, payment is handled entirely by our payment provider, Ziina. You are taken to their secure page to pay. We never see, receive or store your card number, expiry date or security code. What we receive back is confirmation that a deposit was paid, the amount, and the reference of the watch it relates to.
Ziina processes your payment information as a controller in its own right under its own privacy policy. For payments made in person or by bank transfer, we hold only what appears on the transfer or the invoice.
Identity Checks
United Arab Emirates anti-money-laundering law requires dealers in precious metals and stones to carry out customer due diligence on certain transactions. Where that applies, we will ask to see identification, such as an Emirates ID or a passport, and in some cases evidence of the source of funds.
We collect these documents only because the law obliges us to, we keep them securely and separately from anything used for ordinary business contact, we never use them for marketing, and we retain them for the period the law prescribes. If we cannot complete the checks, we may decline the transaction.
Hosting and Security
This website is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, which operates a global network of servers. To deliver pages and protect the site from attack and automated abuse, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request, including the IP address it came from, the browser used and the page requested. This is standard infrastructure logging, it is kept for a short period, and it is not used by us to identify or profile visitors.
Photographs and listing details are published to the site through an authenticated connection from our own systems. Access is restricted to us.
Third Parties
Some watch pages display the original Instagram listing through Instagram’s embed service, used where a piece has not yet been photographed in house. When an embed loads, Meta may collect data as described in its own privacy policy. Pages that show our own photography make no request to Instagram at all.
Links to WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook take you to those platforms, which operate under their own policies and are outside our control. Apart from those embeds, this website loads no advertising, no analytics and no third-party fonts or scripts: the typefaces are served from our own domain.
Where Your Information Is Held
Our own business records are held in the United Arab Emirates. Some of the services described above, including our hosting network, our payment provider and the messaging platforms you choose to contact us on, process data on servers outside the United Arab Emirates. Where that happens we rely on established providers who commit to appropriate safeguards for the information they handle.
How Long We Keep Things
Enquiries that do not lead to a transaction are kept only as long as the conversation is useful, and are deleted on request at any time.
Where a transaction takes place, we keep the records a licensed business is required to keep, including invoices, settlement statements and identity records, for the periods set by United Arab Emirates commercial, tax and anti-money-laundering law. These records are kept because the law requires it, not for marketing, and cannot be deleted on request while that obligation runs.
Why We Are Allowed to Hold It
We handle personal data only where the law permits. Answering an enquiry, arranging a viewing and completing a sale are done to perform our agreement with you or to take steps at your request before it. Identity documents, invoices and settlement records are kept because anti-money-laundering, commercial and tax law require it. Request logs and the security measures described above rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and free of abuse. Where we rely on your consent for anything, we ask for it plainly and you may withdraw it at any time.
If Something Goes Wrong
If personal data we hold is lost, exposed or accessed without authorisation, we will investigate immediately, take steps to contain it, and notify the United Arab Emirates Data Office and anyone affected without undue delay where the law requires it. We will tell you what happened, what it means for you and what we are doing about it.
Your Rights
You may ask what information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to a particular use. You may also withdraw consent where our use of your information rests on consent, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it.
Write to info@watchlocker.ae. We respond as quickly as we can and within the period United Arab Emirates law allows. There is no charge. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we may have to keep records the law requires us to keep even after a deletion request.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the United Arab Emirates Data Office.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date. Material changes affecting how we use information already held will be brought to the attention of anyone affected.
