About This Watch
In 1904, Louis Cartier built a watch for the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont so he could read the time without letting go of his aircraft's controls, and the Santos became one of the first purpose-built wristwatches ever made. This reference is a Middle East-exclusive edition of that icon, and one of the very few modern Cartier dials to carry Eastern Arabic numerals, a nod to the region it was created for that has made it one of the most talked-about Santos variants among Gulf collectors.
The sunray green dial deepens from emerald to near-black as it moves through the light, its Eastern Arabic numerals rendered in the same silvered finish as the sword hands, and the whole face is framed by a black ADLC-coated bezel that breaks deliberately with the polished steel case, echoed by the green-set crown. This example was purchased through TimeVallée and still wears its bezel protector and caseback stickers, with the green alligator leather strap fitted and both an unused black rubber strap and an unused matte black alligator strap (with purchase invoice for 1200 AED) included through Cartier's QuickSwitch system, which swaps straps without tools.
